I took the reference photo for this piece in my backyard after a summer storm rolled through. The sky was a saturated blue with some stormy clouds leftover, and the sun was just starting to shine through. I love when the sky looks like this.
I painted this piece after finishing up an extremely detailed landscape of the same size. I realized I liked painting at that scale, but craved something looser and freer. This diptych makes a statement that brightens up any room, it has acted as a faux window in my small apartment but now I am finally ready to sell it!
